Many believe worship is singing songs of glorification in a slow manner. But worship is much deeper than that. It isn’t limited to the medium of music alone, although music is one of the most common forms of worship.
What is True Worship to God?
True worship is centred on God. It is to express Reverence and Respect to God; to recognize and esteem the worthiness of God. It is also intimacy with God (Connecting to God).
Reverence can be through Singing, Praying, Communion and even Reverential silence. Did she just say silence? Oh yes! Silence. Keep on reading and I’ll explain it somewhere in this article.
When true worship is being done, the body surrenders all to the soul. i.e the body man gives total submission to the spirit man; the spirit man is the one in charge in true worship.
John 4:23–24(KJV) “ But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.….24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
True worship is first induced in the spirit of the believer, then it is observed in his soul, before it can finally be demonstrated by the body.
That is why most times, in church, you tend to see people, why worshiping, they demonstrate some things you can’t explain. And also most times, they tend to cry or spit out words that seems as if it doesn’t make sense. But it actually does. It happens that way because the body cannot describe exactly what it feels within the soul.
Types of Worshipers
- The Singing worshipers: These are the kinds that sings throughout the session. The songs connects them emotionally; it assists in their expression and response to God.
- The Praying worshipers: These people pray throughout the session. This is the only way they connect more to God. Not that songs can’t connect them, but they’re more comfortable in conversing with God.
- The Silent worshipers: when I talked about reverential silence, I meant these kind of people. When true worship is stimulated in the spirit, and is being experienced in the soul, sometimes, the body cannot explain what it feels in the spirit, and so the mouth just stays silent. That is why, in church, while worshiping, you see some people not singing, not praying, they just don’t say anything. But their eyes are shut and they move their body in ways one can’t describe. This is because they are lost in the spirit.
But some of us are two out of these types of worshipers.
